About The Artwork

Andy’s Tsunami is part of Tom Everhart’s Waves of Influence series and was inspired by a brief conversation he had with Andy Warhol in 1987, the final year of Warhol’s life.

Warhol had learned of Everhart’s developing work with Charles M. Schulz’s imagery and told him that while new art often involves appropriation, Everhart’s situation was “a different way of seeing the new” because he had learned the visual language directly from its creator.

Everhart later described the impact of that exchange as “an inspirational tsunami.”
