About the Artwork

Inspired by the deep, star-filled nights of Tahiti, Tom Everhart’s “Reach for the Stars” transforms the night sky into what the artist calls “visual constructions of hope.” Part of his ongoing Coconut Radio series, the work combines Everhart’s fluid approach to paint with imagery derived from the visual language he learned from Charles Schulz. Painted flat on the studio floor, the work was then tilted so that the paint itself flowed upward, physically embodying the gesture of reaching for the stars.
